In California, one of the greatest barriers to accessing the Healthy Families Program is eligibility awareness. To this challenge, Blue Cross brings innovation in the form of the Application Assistance Van Program. Our goal – to assist families of uninsured children in applying for health care coverage through the Healthy Families Program or Medi-Cal for Children plans. Our vans will travel throughout California assisting eligible families with application assistance for the Healthy Families Program and Medi-Cal for Children plans. Operated by Blue Cross of California State Sponsored Business-Certified Staff, each van comes equipped with state-of-the-art capabilities, including a computer, fax, printer, photo-copier and internet accessibility. Van visits will operate on an appointment basis with Blue Cross community partners. Once area events are confirmed, our partners will distribute event flyers throughout their community to announce location, dates and times the van will be available. Potential applicants can then call 1-800-227-3238 to schedule an appointment.
